‘AWAY’ What is away? Where is away? 

“There’s no such thing as ‘away’. When we throw something away it has to go somewhere.” – Annie Leonard

The concept of throwing anything away is the entire reason I decided to create this project for my final year in my degree. I personally see the ‘away’ we talk about as not a physical place but mental, created by the simple phrase ‘Out of sight, out of mind.’ 

Therefore, I have made that space, not only to remind everyone of the worldwide damage going on but to try and stop us from using the term ‘away’ so lightly and without thought. 

The pieces of plastic are floating, waiting to be remembered about. The space is our mind, simply not thinking twice when throwing any waste ‘away’.
