For my final year university project, I knew I needed lots of plastic to be able to fill out the box, I didn’t want to just buy pieces as then what would be the point of an awareness moving image piece. So, I started off by asking around friends, family and the people I work with if they could start putting aside any plastic that they would have just thrown away. I even made a list of things that maybe people wouldn’t think twice about before throwing away. I also did a lot of walking on the canal near to where I live as I know that the walkway alongside the canal is overpopulated with waste from other walkers. The whole point of this project is to reflect on the waste that we ‘throw away’ but nothing ever really gets thrown away in reality. So why no use collection the plastic from people who would have or has thrown it ‘away’ already.
